Scotland is a country with a very rich heritage and culture, much of which is expressed through our love of crafting. Here, we’ll take a more in depth look at 3 types of craft from across the country.
In part, a love of crafting is due to a wish to leave something tangible to future generations. Nothing expresses home and caring quite as well as a handmade item. Many such items are in fact kept and passed down from parent to child becoming significant, valuable heirlooms.
When we craft, we are in a sense connecting with our past and yearning for continuity. Recent years have seen a resurgence of interest in traditional skills spurred on by a wish to nurture them, thereby avoiding them dying out completely. There are strong Celtic and Pictish traditions in Scotland of course and the symbols of these are reflected through many of the crafting media, displaying an incomparable beauty and simplicity that finds admirers around the globe.

Hi I love doing art or fun crafts. Like making jewerly sometime I find good crafts but you end up buying alot of supplies and things. I use plain stuff glue, tape, markers, paint, pastels, beads, paper etc. that kind of stuff.
So any good crafts out there?
Decoupage can do lampshades, picture frames, even tables.

ok, I work at a afterschool day care, with kids ages from 5-9 yrs old. I need as many ideas to keep this kids as busy as can be!! My boss does not want them to do alot of coloring. So I am looking for crafts, projects, games…anything that will be busy for them. And a way to get inexpen craft material. I am starting a community program for the children in my apartment complex. It will begin in two weeks. I am trying to come up with as many ideas for arts and crafts activities and othe games and activities. If you could give me some ideas and how to do it . Thank you.
My mom does this really fun activity with play-doh. You could even make your own to make more of an activity of it. Anyway, everyone has the same amount of play-doh and each a different color. Everyone divides their ball of play-doh in half and puts half in the center of the table. Then, using the other half, they sculpt something based on a theme (something you’d see in a garden, something you’d see downtown, etc.). Set a time limit (2 minutes is about right) and then when the time is up, without talking, everyone moves left one space. They now have someone elses sculpture in front of them. They try to figure out what it could be and then using the play-doh in the middle, add on to it. Do this again and again until each person is back in their original spots. Then, have each person talk about what they started to sculpt and what they now have. It’s really a lot of fun and a good activity for all ages.
